Shriners Hospitals have been serving children since the first one opened, in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1922. Since then, Shriners Hospitals have grown into a worldwide health-care organization dedicated to top-quality, compassionate, specialized care for children regardless of their families’ ability to pay or their insurance status.
Shriners, or Shrine Masons, belong to Shrine International. The Shrine is an international fraternity of approximately 500,000 members who belong to Shrine Centers throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Republic of Panama. Founded in New York City, in 1872, the organization is composed solely of Master Masons.
The Shrine is best known for its colorful parades, its distinctive red fez, and its official philanthropy, the Shriners Hospitals for Children, which is often called “the heart and soul of the Shrine.”
In addition to the hospitals, Shriners also give tens of millions of dollars in research grants every year to fund research aimed at improving the care and lives of children and their families.
Thank you for your support of Shriners Hospitals through Medway Oil & Propane! Contact us if you have any questions.
