Depending on exactly where you live, preparing for an emergency situation can involve all sorts of different things. It can mean stocking up on groceries in case roads are closed due to mass amounts of snow and it can mean planning out an evacuation route. Doing these things can help you stay safe and comfortable should an emergency arise. Using a reliable energy source like propane offers a similar comfort and level of safety. Let’s take a look at some of the reasons why a home or business owner is able to count on propane during a storm, natural disaster or power outage.
Using electricity makes you and your home vulnerable to grid failures. If the grid doesn’t have power, you then don’t have power. Propane, on the other hand, is stored in a tank on your own property and this tank isn’t connected to any source of power or electrical grid. Therefore, your propane and your propane-powered appliances will continue to work as normal even if there is a blackout.
If you are not using propane as your main source of power for your appliances and equipment, you may want to consider a propane-powered generator that you can use in an emergency situation. This can keep your security system running, preserve the food in your refrigerator and keep your AC or heat blasting.
One of the many great things about propane is that is really has no expiration date. It doesn’t even degenerate overtime. This makes it a solid choice for emergency preparedness. Therefore, a home or business owner can stock up on as much as he or she would like and feel confident that there will be enough to go around in any and every situation. This is much easier than stressing and worrying over whether or not you have enough heating oil in your tank before a big snowstorm is scheduled to hit and trying to schedule a fuel delivery at the same time as so many other homeowners.
Propane is a single energy source that can power and fuel numerous appliances and pieces of equipment. It can fuel furnaces, water heaters, indoor cooking ranges, generators, clothes dryers, gas fireplaces and space heaters, just to name a few. Many of these appliances are essential to have during an emergency so when you power them with propane you can count on them working no matter what the circumstances are.
